Get Ready For Black Friday

Will you shop 'til you drop on Black Friday?

Some people do it for the thrill, most do it for the sale. Do you know the story behind Black Friday? I sure didn’t and was curious to know, here’s a bit of the story.

“The term ‘Black Friday’ was coined in the 1960s to mark the kickoff to the Christmas shopping season. ‘Black’ refers to stores moving from the ‘red’ to the ‘black,’ back when accounting records were kept by hand, and red ink indicated a loss, and black a profit. Ever since the start of the modern Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, the Friday after Thanksgiving has been known as the unofficial start to a bustling holiday shopping season.”

While the majority of us will have off on this day, retailers “stock up” on more than merchandise, they make sure to have plenty of staff on hand. Will you be waking up before dawn on your day off to get a hold of the best sales? There’s many websites that are dedicated to this day and are posting information about sales as it comes in. Check out for preview day sale ads and supposed “leaked” Black Friday ads. You can even make a list of the items you want to buy.
